Brayered Background

I had been seeing these brayered backgrounds everywhere and thought I would give them a try. We did this card at club a couple of months back ~ I have to admit, it takes a little bit of working with the ink and brayer to get the effect you're looking for. Overall though, I didn't think it was too hard! We used Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, and Chocolate Chip for the ground, then used So Saffron, More Mustard, and Really Rust for the sky. You just roll your brayer over the ink pad, then using a torn piece of paper for a mask, you roll it onto your cardstock, starting with the light shade at the top next to your torn paper (the torn paper acts as a mask to protect the opposite side of your cardstock), then working your way to the darker shade at the bottom, blending as you go. I then used Sponge Daubers in the ink to blend even more. Then you turn the carstock around and do the same thing with the 2nd set of colors. The row of trees from Lovely as a Tree were stamped twice, each running off my sheet of cardstock on each end to give the look that they're ongoing instead of just a line of trees. Wouldn't this effect be pretty in pinks and blues with grays and black across the ground for more of a wintry look. Let me know if you have any questions about this card!

Black Birthday

Here is the "black" birthday card we did for the Birthday Bash Card Class...You know you have to offer this one ~ and several people made it!! I used the background stamp Polka Dots (on the dormant list) to make the strip across the middle. With the Big Bold Birthday set, we stamped the base of the cupcake directly onto the Whisper White paper, then stamped the icing and the candle on scrap Whisper White cardstock and cut them out, using Dimensionals to make them pop. This was a simple, quick card to do and could be updated with brighter, bolder colors and DSP across the middle if you didn't need a "black" birthday card.

Altered Frame

Hello, Everyone! I hope you're all having a great day! I wanted to share a project that's a little different than normal for me. This started with a frame my Mom gave me the last time I visited her. She handed me this frame to bring home and the first thought I had was, "I have two boys...no girls ~ what am I going to do with this flowery frame??" Then I decided it would make a great home decor sample ~ all else fails...make a sample with it! I thought it turned out cute...But I guess it will have to be used in my craft room because there's nowhere else in my entire house where pink would work!

Washington Apple Thank You

I thought this card turned out great! It used scraps of DSP for the background ~ just pick out 3 coordinating patterns (these particular strips came from the Washington Apple DSP pack) and cut into strips. I used the scallop from the Pennant Die (which is exclusive to Stampin' Up!) for the Big Shot as the base of my stamped image. Simple card that goes together quick!

Sneak Peek...

As many of you know, I'm heading to Hawaii in just a few weeks with Stampin' Up! for the annual incentive trip. Scott and I have never been and we are looking forward to a nice vacation. I get the opportunity to sign up for swaps during this event ~ and, of course, I did because it just wouldn't be a Stampin' Up! trip without swapping! ;D But...this year many demonstrators decided they wanted to mail in the swaps instead of taking them on the trip...less hassle, less to pack, etc. So...the first swap I signed up for was due in the mail this past Monday. It was a Big Shot full card swap so I thought I would show you all a sneak peek of my card...

I know...it's not much to go by ~ and I promise I'll show the full card swap along with the others I receive back as soon as I get them! So...be sure to check back in the next week or so!!

Another Masculine Birthday Card

This card was also one that was offered at my Birthday Bash Card Class. It is stamped multiple times using one of the trees out of the set Lovely as a Tree. I inked the image up with Always Artichoke and stamped it up to 3 times, at varying heights, on the cardstock. By doing this you create depth so it looks more like a forest instead of just a few trees. I used the hemp twine which adds more of the outdoors to the card and adds just a touch more masculinity. The background is also stamped with the Sanded background stamp in Chocolate Chip (you may have to click on the picture to enlarge it to see that added touch!). Backgrounded Thank You

Here is a simple, simple Thank You card. I used one of our background stamp sets called Pretty Petals and stamped it in Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock on the bottom half of the card front. The top half I just stamped the Thank You sentiment from Thank You Kindly, also in Basic Black. I then layered that onto a Basic Black card base, then tied a strip of Regal Rose 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon slightly off-center to make a "pop" of color.

Isn't this so cute! Owls are so popular right now...and our rub-ons make it so easy to make a quick card. This card is made using supplies from our Level 3 Hostess Set Hand Drawn Bundle. I used the DSP and the Loop to Loop Rub-Ons found in that bundle. Another Sweet Always...

See...I told you this paper looks so cute whenever you use it. Here you'll notice the shape of our Top Note Die ~ this die is exclusive to Stampin' Up! to be used in the Sizzix Big Shot. To get the layered look, you cut two Top Notes ~ one in the DSP and one in Pumpkin Pie. You trim the DSP Top Note around the perforated edge that you get when you run the paper through the Big Shot and then layer.

The flower from the Sweet Bella stamp set is stamped in Regal Rose on Pink Pirouette cardstock, then layered on Regal Rose. You'll notice the shape to these layers ~ you get this look when you use the corner rounder punch to punch opposite corners and leave the other two corners square.
